Field Day 2004 Open Invitation

The Ko’olau Amateur Radio Club of Kaneohe, (KARC) cordially
invites everyone to join us at Kualoa Beach Park, June
26th, for this year’s Field Day event. It promises to
be not only a fun event, but also an informative one
for the media, elected officials, and the general
public, as we have some special things planned.

Kids are especially welcome. Boy Scout Troop #311 will
be there, working on their radio merit badges; Castle
High School’s “Castle Knight Talkers” Radio Club
members may attend. We’ve invited scores of Govt.
officials (some have committed to attend!), and the
media, too. Also this year, the OCDA, American Red
Cross, NWS/SKYWARN, and other agencies will be joining
us, providing invaluable emergency and disaster
information. We all know how important Amateur Radio
is to emergency communications, and this is an
excellent opportunity to showcase our partnership with
these served agencies to the public, Govt. officials,
and the media.

This year, KARC will have 2 full-time HF stations, 1
VHF station and a “GOTA” or “Get on the Air” station.
Operations are coordinated by the Ko’olau ARC, but
licensed or not anyone can operate, explore, and
participate as much as they like. Plus, as an added
bonus, on Saturday, there will be hourly
demonstrations for anyone interested, covering a wide
range of topics and modes.

We will be there from about noon Thursday, June 24th
through till about 10:00 am Sunday, June 27th. Station
set-up begins Friday, June 25th, 8 am; Field Day
operations begin Saturday morning @ 8 am. Demos are on
Saturday; times are 9:30, 10:30, and 11:30 am break
for potluck lunch and 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm. Breakdown
starts Sunday, June 27th, after 8 am.

Camping is possible on KARC’s permit please contact
us @ the email address* or phone number below.

73 es Aloha,

Jan Mitchell, WH7Y

Location - Kualoa Beach Park, aka 'Chinaman's Hat'
Talk-in freq: 146.52 MHz simplex & 146.88 MHz (-
offset) repeater.)

Kualoa Regional Park is on Kamehameha Hwy. makai side,
about 10 miles up the Windward Oahu coast, north of
Kaneohe.
The site is located about half way through the park,
and is at the end of the "Group Event Area," which
stops at a rest facility just as the C&C Public Camp
Sites start. There is a little traffic circle in the
road with one leg going off to the right to the park
offices, one leg going straight and then a parking lot
to the left. Park in this lot on the left and we will
be between the lot and the beach, near the beach. We
will be easy to spot!
