To All Oahu Radio Amateurs:
Although the Waipahu ham classes (Waipahu Adult Education program) aren't
scheduled to start until late January and registration will not be finally
be closed until shortly before the first class, the regular registration
period ENDS this Friday January 16.
Anyone who is interested is URGED to call the school this week 675-0254 so
that their idea of class head-count can be worked on (classes may not be
offered if a reasonable enrollment is not reached).
The introductory class (preparation for the Technician exam) will run
Wednesday nights 2 hours for 10 weeks. Tuition fee $40 plus $20 for ARRL
book. This the standard Adult Ed tuition fee of $2 per classroom hour.
The intermediate level class (preparation for the General exam) will run
Monday nights, with hours, tuition and book fees same as introductory class.
Having a current amateur license is NOT required for this class, but
students should have SOME amateur or radio/electronics experience.
At the end of each session, students who want to learn CW can stick around
for a lesson and should expect to reach the 5 wpm level needed for FCC code
certification.
I am being paid the standard Adult Ed instructor fee to conduct these
classes. Any salary I actually receive will be used first for class
materials, second to supplement the budget of the non-profit/non-commercial
Ham Swap Meet on April 3 (all hams invited), and any leftover will be
donated to the ARRL BPL and 2004 Spectrum Protection funds.
My phone number 487-1863, my e-mail as above.
Thanks & 73,
Warren KH6WM
