Im not sure what information the ham who emailed you was looking for, he
wasn't very specific. The only ham on Fanning is Chuck Corbet T32NCC. Chuck is
in
Honolulu refurbishing his boat. He stops by every week or so and visits. Last
Sunday when he was visiting he said he would be here at least another 6 weeks
before returning to Fanning. A phone call to Chuck would reveal any
information
a visiting ham might want to know about Fanning Island and the NCL stop there.
NCL uses small shuttle boats to put visitors on Fanning for only a couple
hours each trip. They have the beach set up within a roped off area inside the
lagoon. The dock
they land visitors on is actually pretty small. Passengers can visit the
venders in the village and also rent bicycles to ride a short distance to other
parts of the area near the village. Im not sure how easy it would be to take a
rig ashore in the shuttle boats but I would suggest getting a hold of the NCL
people here in Honolulu and ask.
Chucks cell phone number here in Honolulu is 224-7942. Chuck is a pretty
friendly guy and Im sure he wouldn't mind a call. He works on his boat all day
long and usually has his cell on so it shouldn't be too hard to contact him.
