Per their pilot guy, Maurizio Bertolino, IZ1CRR, the
team will be going QRT in just about 14 or so more hours
to leave for home (QRT afternoon their time, now 1:18 AM)!
I fired up my ACE propagation predictor (based upon the
VOACAP program). Plunked in the present solar numbers,
etc., and found useable S/N's predicted as follows for
bands/times in the next hours. They will be gone by
the time 12 metes is again possible, so that leaves:
1. 20 meters this evening between about 5:30 pm and
9:30 pm HST; and,
2. 17 meters just a bit later this evening, predicted times
of 8:30 to about 11 pm HST.
I used isotropic antennas on both ends (to simulate my no
gain situation again on 17 meters) and the full 1500 watts
legal power levels. Result, about 55 dB S/N on 17 meters
just around 10 pm, lower before and after in the times above;
and about 50 dB S/N the full nearly the full above time on
20 meters.
Now, of course, the question is: will they be on those bands
at those times???
Will try.
