Warren,
My name is Robert Brown. I am not an ARRL member but have my ham radio license. I have been receiving your e-mails for the past month and truly appreciate the news and informative talk. Recently I celebrated a birthday and received a gift of Gordon West CW Speed Builder Morse Code 5 to 16 wpm tapes. My speed is increasing. I do not own a radio but hope to some day. I will try to attend one of the meetings soon.
Aloha,
Robert Brown KE4AKK

Subject: ARRL (Pacific Section) notes/news

To all Oahu ARRL members and all interested hams on Oahu from Assistant
Section Manager (Oahu) Warren KH6WM:

1. Communications with Oahu hams: I have finally received the complete
list of Oahu ARRL members. Contacting each person directly as I promised is
made more difficult and costly because many on the list do not have listed
phone numbers or else have e-mail addresses that I am not aware of. Also,
there are 299 hams on Oahu who are ARRL members !

Please e-mail me with your e-mail address or (if you have no e-mail
capability) call me at 487-1863 with your phone number any time before 9 PM
so that I cut down the number of costly mailed-out letters by using these
cheaper methods.

Non-ARRL members are certainly invited to also respond and get on my list
for information purposes.

2. Communications with the rest of the Pacific section: I have been
working with the new Section manager (Bob Schneider AH6J) on defining and
prioritizing the many issues that confront us as hams and as ARRL members.
But YOUR input is VERY IMPORTANT, so please pass on YOUR ideas for what is
REALLY important to work on - a meeting of the various (all islands) Section
appointees WILL be scheduled soon to firm up where action is to be
concentrated.

Stay tuned for more specifics.

3. I will continue to attend KARC, HARC and EARC meetings on a regular
basis. Please feel to talk to me at any of these meetings or to e-mail me
or to call me at 487-1863 if you have anything to discuss.

KARC (Koolau Amateur Radio Club) next meets this Saturday morning (May 11)
at 9:30 AM at Hoomaluhia Park (Kaneohe) visitor center. HARC (Honolulu
Amateur Radio Club) next meets Saturday morning May 18, at 9 AM at Zippy's
restaurant (59 N. Vineyard Blvd across from Borthwick's mortuary). EARC
will meet later in May (normally the 4th Thursday). All hams invited to
these meetings.

73, Warren KH6WM ASM (Oahu), Pacific Section ARRL
