Aloha:
This weekend is the 2002 Hawaii QSO party. This year in
memory of Richard LaChance, Silent Key, who did much to promote
Ham Radio in Hawaii.
The main purpose of the event is to get as many Hawaii
stations as possible on the air this weekend, on as many bands
and modes as possible. Lots of opportunities for those needing
Hawaii on some band or mode to fill out WAS or other awards. And
to have some fun making Hawaii a common state on HF for at least
one weekend. Dust off the rig and make megacycles.
The times are 9 p.m. HST Friday night until noon HST
on Sunday. Low bands are especially encouraged.
Details can be found on the Koolau Amateur Radio Club
web pages at:

If you have an HF rig, please fire it up and call some
CQ's this weekend! Use a mode like CW, PSK31, RTTY or even SSTV
and you can feel especially good about yourself. Prove you have
what it really takes and get on 160 meters! Or just see if you
can notch a few Q's on 20 meter SSB. Submit a contest log or
just have some fun on the air.
