[High-Speed-CW] Nominal max speed with straight key? with coutie key? iambic keyer?

I don't know what a coutie key is, and I haven't used a straight key in
a very long time. I can tell you I use an iambic keyer for
conversational CW in the 50-60 WPM range. Also, I've been doing a
little practice from time to time with 5 character code groups, as
practice for the next IARU High Speed Telegraphy competition. With
letters, I'm doing about 70 WPM, numbers 75-80 WPM, and mixed characters
about 60 WPM. This is with an Island Keyer II and a Begali paddle.

Speaking of the IARU HST, the next one is tentatively scheduled for Oct
2007 in Belgrade, Serbia. I'm hoping to go, but I'm not sure at this
time (the last one in June was a lot easier with the kids out of
school...). Are there any US guys who might be interested in
participating? If so, pse contact me off-list.
73,
Barry, W2UP
