Wayne,
I bought a MFJ-464, which appears to be very similar to the 495, from a
buddy and I love it. What is great about this keyer is that it displays
what I'm sending whether I'm using a paddle or a keyboard. When I'm on the
paddle I can see my spacing errors and character errors. I believe using
this feature has helped me improve my fist. (I'm sending much better when I
use the Logikey K3/WBL V-22 combination.)
I get enjoyment using a paddle with either of the above mentioned keyers
because it is challenging to send good CW. The enjoyment I get when I'm on
the keyboard is being able to receive the QRQ the other guy is sending to
me. I think my top receiving speed is a hair over 50 wpm.
CW is fun. I love it!
