Thanks to Al, Dave, Rocco and Ron for the good tips. I have tried ALL those suggestions but will go through them again.
I replaced the tube sockets several years with new unused tube sockets. The only things that make sense is a bad tube, dirty or corroded
tube pins, weak making poor contact or solder melted out of rube pin.
I have swapped set of good tubes and all tubes do the same thing. SOOOOOOOO SIMPLE, yet so evasive. The tube sockets are wired for 10VAC allegedly to supply 5 VAC to each 3-500ZG at 1/2 the current load on the filament transformer.
I am about to conclude that "OLD HENRY" has a "QUEER" Electron hiding in it ! I am looking for someone to perform an exorcism on "OLD HENRY" to get rid of the EVIL ELECTRONS.
I probably should segregate "OLD HENRY" to make sure my other radio gear doesn't become possessed by evil spirits. I have also tried saying HOKUS POKUS repeatedly as well as other evil things but it just sits there and malfunctions. HAINTS AINT FUNNY!!!
Thanks and 73,John, K5PGW
PS: What is also stranger than fiction is that I have bought a Hallicrafters SX 100 from Al, a Apache plastic replacement dial drum and a gorgeous Hammarlund HQ 140X from Ron, and a 4 element Gem Quad from David when he was K5MDX and lived in Mississippi. I still have the boom and spiders after 46 years.
