[Henry] Are 3B28's reliable??

I have used the solid state plug in with no problems on my 2K.  
While we are on the subject of high voltage using both the 3b28 or solid state plug in, when my plate switch is on the amp "sings" even when it is not keyed for transmit.  The noise appears to come from the 3B28 filament transformer.  Any one else hear this or know a cure?  with the solid state plug in there would be no need for the transformer and I was thinking of bypassing it preventing the high voltage from passing through it.  Any thoughts on this subject?
