Those Eimac tubes (I have had the problem with my Henry 2K) do have a
problem.  I think you have investigated the filament pin unsoldering (you
did use silver solder?).  I also had a problem
with the actual socket pin.  In one case the pin also unsoldered and on the
other the pin did not make good contact.  I used pliers to bend it slightly.
What happens is the tube actually pops out of the socket slightly.  A local
had the 2K4 with all of these problems plus a new tube that had the grid to
plate short.

My Henry 2K (the original model) has worked fine for nearly 10 years so
knock on wood.  Now if I can only figure out a way to fix my
bandswitch...its a complicated system that switched two other circuits via
dial cord.  The band switch was mounted in the center according to Ted Henry
Jr (he answers the Henry Radio phone) to make the front panel look nice and
balanced.  The switch is nothing but a hub for the dial cord mechanism.  At
least I have use of 17, 12, and 15
(its in the 15 meter position).
