Posting from August 2022 thread in case you didn't find a fix. If you did
fix it, would you post what you found?

You mention the chimes still work. Does that mean that they chime when you
plug the clock in? If you leave the clock plugged in and running for
fifteen minutes, do the chimes sound?

Does the colon pulsate like it's supposed to?

Displaying 18:88 could indicate the main IC has failed or the display
refresh process is running at a rate that illuminates all the digits.
