According to Penson's 1995 book:

Differences between the SB-110 and SB-110A are:

  * Improved bypassing and filtering
  * Improved LMO
  * The changes were made to prevent the heterodyne oscillator from
    radiating, which caused TVI on channel 6, even in receive mode.

The only easy way to tell which version you have is by looking at the 
blue and white label on the LMO or on the rear panel or by checking the 
assembly manual cover for the model number, assuming you have the 
original manual that came with the unit.
