I'm a few years ahead of you and still enjoying the smoke of burning rosin.

If you are shopping for resistors, one think you'll notice is that they've
gotten a lot smaller - particularly lower resistance values - than you and I
remember. Several years ago I ordered some 1-watt resistors from Mouser.
When they arrived, they were about the size of the half-watt resistors I was
used to. I called Mouser to complain, and they replaced them (free) - again
the same physical size. Only then did I look at the datasheet and discover
that the current crop of metal film resistors are much smaller than the
carbon composition types we cut our teeth on.
