That is true. The 'scopes weak point is the HV section. The filter caps short out or the power transformers go up in smoke. The transformer can be rewound - I have done this, but it is expensive. Good luck. 73

Anyone familiar with the HO-13 Scan Adapter?  I have one that I have been
studying lightly, trying to see if there are any clues to it's IF
requirements.  Also, hoping to learn any maintenance tips.

This one powered up, the trace came up nicely but a small swirl of smoke
started coming from the back top so I shut it down immediately.  Fuse did
not blow.  I see no signs of charring except two disk ceramic caps on the
scope base look like they darkened around their edges.

Manual anyone?
