[Heathkit] Singlebanders

I've reached the point where I feel the desire to document my adventures
as I go along in the hope that they may be educational, informative, or
at least entertaining...so I've started doing so at my new website
www.rantechnology.com      Since I'm interested in a wide range of stuff
from newfangled gizmos like SDRs to boatanchors, audio, and homebrewing,
it's sometimes chaotic but never boring around here.

One of my recent diversions was into the Heathkit Singleband
transceiver, prompted when the HW-32A that I'd planned to use on the
Sunday Heathkit Net decided to quit.   I've accumulated several of both
the original and "A" models but hadn't really sat down and gone through
one before, and I came away impressed.   I have a sentimental feeling
for these simple radios as the ham who put me on track to get my license
at age 13 used one exclusively for many years, and did just fine with
it.   To me that's why simple but effective solutions often outlast the
more complicated alternatives - I'll bet every person who has purchased
a robotic vacuum cleaner still has a broom in their closet ;-)  In any
case, you can read about Singlebanders and see a couple of oddball
variants at: *http://tinyurl.com/y7qnabaa*

Feel free to check back - I'm adding content almost daily.   Or you can
register and get automatic notifications if your Inbox is lonely ;-)
