The parasitic choke on the latest DX-60 I'm rebuilding has definitely seen better days. So, thought I'd see about making one since they are not available on-line.
It appears to be a 1 watt carbon composition resistor 47 ohm resistor with 4 turns of what appears to be 20 ga tinned ?? wire around the body of the resistor.
Also, in doing research, it appears that it might actually be better to place the coil alongside the resistor rather than around the resistors body.
Are there any special things that need to be considered:
Is the resistance value critical?
Is the value of inductor (diameter, number of turns-per-inch and wire gauge) critical
Is the number of turns of the inductor critical (4 1/2 on the one being removed)
Note that the parasitic choke on a KWM-2 is only about 2 1/2 turns on a 2 watt resistor and that is also a 6146.
Any and all thoughts/comments/advice would be most welcome?
