[Heathkit] DX60B/HG10B question

I have my first DX60B/HG10B combo here. I bought them off ‘the bay’ and they seem to both work fine but I have some questions about using them together.

Currently I have the VFO hooked up to the DX60B as per instructions.  I leave the VFO in standby, and when I put the TX into the CW position the vfo takes off
running of course. Plenty of drive and full output from the transmitter.

What concerns me is, when I put the transmitter back into standby, I hear the vfo running loudly in my rx for a few moments before it loses amplitude and then finally goes silent.

I can see where this might not be a problem to some but it bugs the hell out of me.

Is this normal or do I have a problem.

and btw I have TWO HG10B’s and both do the very same thing.
