[Heathkit] New Heathkit Precision RF Meter -- HM 1002

Hi Kenny, et al

I've been looking at the new kit as well. I have mixed feelings about
it. I am inclined to want to build Heathkit stuff, I was born just a
little too late to have been able to build the original kits and I have
always felt a little gypped at that. I really want to like this kit, but
I have a few serious concerns with it as it stands now.

A) As you mentioned, pricing. It is a little dear. And I'm not sure
what I feel about their marketing speak where they say, effectively, we
should pre order now because they intend to jack the price even more if
it turns out it's as accurate as they think.

B) They go to lengths to point out the features of it having dual
sensors in it, but they are fairly quiet about saying it actually only
comes with one sensor. And there is absolutely no indication of what
the second sensor will cost later - which feels like I'd be paying for
half a kit and getting the privilege of buying the rest of the kit
later.

C) There is no indication of UI - all that is shown is a couple
bar-graph LEDs. No indication of whether it will link to a PC. I can
understand that the final presentation might not be 100% nailed down,
but I'd think there should be more information than what there is now,
at least concept drawings.

As I said, I really want to like it, and I definitely don't want to rain
on anyone's decision to pre-order it. I'm assuming as a pre-order
customer you'll get updates first - I hope you'll pass that on as you
get them. Thanks so much for posting about it.

      Kurt
