[Heathkit] Heathkit Digest, Vol 162, Issue 1 - 10.5MHz Xtals

Hi Bry

Thanks for your email and very useful information link. I have attached a
picture of one of the crystals that I offered to Howie. It looks like an
attempt to produce a hermetic version of an FT243 enclosure, has glass to
metal seals and a good activity for its age according to my Type 193A crystal
tester. This particular example was made by GEC in the early 1960s but they
were also made by Brookes and Brush in the UK. I have not been able to
identify the case designation and cannot find any photos in crystal catalogues
from the early 1980s.

Bob & others:

hc6u crystals with the larger pins installed are called hc17/u and yes
these can be used in FT243 crystal sockets.

hc18/u is a miniature crystal with wire leads the same as hc49u.

The HC-6 crystals with the large pins are HC-18 crystals. They are HC-6
crystals for use in FT-243 sockets.
