[Heathkit] Strange-looking SB-600 spkr?

Everyone,

I checked and my speaker does not have a series number tag. There are a couple differences from the speaker in the earlier pictures. The feet on mine are held in place with sheet metal screws, nut the more standard screw, lockwasher, and nut. Mine also has a back panel made of about 1/8” thick fiber material. There are two vent holes toward the top. Below are two screw terminals for connection and a ¼” phone jack for headphones. I can take pictures later if anyone is interested.

I had always heard the story of it being a Canadian product. Given Chuck’s report of very limited quantities I could believe that we have prototypes that never really made it to full production.

Anyone have a set of Canadian catalogs? Would like to know how long it was sold.

It will take a bit more prying to get me out of the prototype corner. Just because it's in a catalog doesn't mean it was actually sold, or sold for very long.

A separate speaker for Canada defies all logic.

Best,

An old post says it was shown in the mid-1966 Canadian catalog for use with the SB-300.

Doug's comments prompted me to recall noting that the speaker in mine has a Canadian manufacturers name on it.
