Even on CW, the input power needs to be reduced.  Also, since the transmitter uses controlled carrier AM, the load is not that much more.

When one tries to run the VF-1 VFO along with the "normal" load, that is really asking for problems.

I could understand them being overloaded for AM use .. but wouldn't CW use be considered intermittent or peak, and thus able to take more loading?
