[Heathkit] Shining up front panels

Where the panel is in reasonable shape, I use automotive soft wax. Most times I get
excellent results. Where the panel condition is very poor, I precede with Brasso, but
only after first testing on an inconspicuous area (it can easily damage aged lettering).
Most times, I get excellent results, with a panel that looks like new. I have over two
dozen instruments done this way, plus many more that I wound up selling.
I've never tried steel wool (even #0000). When restoring an instrument, the panel I am
working on is the only (irreplaceable) panel I have.

I have had excellent results using GoJo cream hand cleaner and 0000 steel
wool. Buff it with a soft cloth and it leaves a nice polished look.

Gang;
Can anyone suggest a good treatment for shining up the front panels of
Heath's gray test equipment?
Thanks,
