[Heathkit] [Heathkit:Yahoo] Repair Tip for the SB-Series Dial Follower

For example......the SB-102 and other similar rigs have both a round dial (Kc) and a rectangular dial (Mc) above it.  The Kc dial has grooves on the back side.  The Mc dial has a lever that drops down and has a little nylon pointer on it.  The lever has a small hole where the nylon pointer goes.  The nylon pointer fits into the groves and as the Kc dial turns the Mc dial moves right or left.

Hi All,

Can we have some pictures or more of an explanation? The pin that drags the horizontal lags behind a lot. Do you try to calibrate both dials first than pin?

Where is this hole that you opened up? Sorry for the questions but this whole SB-102 dial of mine is in need of real serious repair. Will the SB-102 pick up a known beacon or freq on 40 meters on the east coast.

I live in Pittsburgh PA and need a strong signal that a dipole can pickup.

>From Kathy Bookmiller:  The nylon screw idea worked well. Bought a 6-32 x 1/2" bolt and nut, opened up the hole a bit so it would go through, put the nut on and then filed the remaining bolt down with a nail file since that was what I had handy and it is working well with the dial.

Note:  This nylon "pin" lets the horizontal dial follow the circular dial.  It's a great idea the Kathy put to use.
