[Heathkit] RX-1/TX-1 Frequency Question

Hi Gary,

I haven't actually done so with my TX-1 but on all my other double
barrel 6146 finals I can reduce the the drive and retune the final to
get well under 5 watts output. I know t's not very effeicient, draws
more heater power than that and the B+ wastes even more. The real deal
about not using it on 11 meters - it's not type accepted for CB use and
our ham licenses don't cover that.

My Kenwood Twins have some similarities. The receiver has 160 and 30
meters (labeled WWV) plus an "EXT" position that could be setup for
whatever we want. Th original marketing had 11 meters in that position
until the FCC required that to be dropped. I'm going to install parts
for 17 meters there. The RX also has provision for six and two meter
converters that are intended to be mounted interrnally and used against
the ten meter band. The TX has no 160 meter band, no WARC bands, no 11
meter band, and no extra bandswitch positions, but does have a
"transverter" output that disables the finals when in use. When these
were built and sold 160 meters was almost useless and the WARC bands
were not yet even a pipe dream.

73,
