Hi Bry,

I am not sure at all what is on the DX-40 but the DX-100 has fourof the 
large grey knobs one of which is the bandswitch knob. The VFO knob is 
the only one without the white pointer. The other three, including the 
bandswitch have the white pointer. They are an inch and a half diameter 
and three quarters inch high. I just measured them on mine. I hope this 
information helps.

My own wild guess..I saw the knobs on a DX-35 and I remember them as 
being the same. Maybe the same as DX-40. But I could be wrong about 
that. I was wrong once before you know <evil grin>. The measurements 
above are not from ancient memory, though. I have a DX-100 and I peeked.
