Hi guys,
Many thanks to you all for your replies - some of which came directly to me.
You have answered my question and the approach I like best is making two 
probes as suggested by .
I have found the details of the 309C probe as recommended by Ross and Jeff.
I have also found some more web pages describing how to make RF probes so 
that looks like being the best way forward.
