Hi,
We haven't really established that his VFO needs recalibration. Those
were never used for frequency measurement contests (grin). Our receivers
have better calibration AND our receivers have xtal marker calibrators
to keep us in the bounds of the ham bands and sub bands. Get your
receiver on frequency and then 'net' your
Apache/DX-100/Ranger/DX-60,T-60 etc. We are supposed to have some means
aside from the transmitter to determine that we are inside our bands and
THAT is where we would focus our our calibration efforts.
So far everybody has agreed the Apache is a nicer radio to look at and
use with more advanced circuits and would be the best choice unless 160
meters is important. I hope Brian will tell us what he is going to
choose and how it works out for him.
