[Heathkit] Mohican GC-1 or GC-1A

There is very little difference between the GC-1 and the GC-1A.  From the information that I have, the earlier versions of the GC-1 were shipped with the brushed aluminum knobs and, towards the end of production, before the GC-1A was introduced, Heath started supplying the chrome knobs.

Heath supplied brushed aluminum knobs on the TX-1 Apache and originally with the RX-1 Mohawk and HA-10 Warrior.  Then, when the HX-10 Marauder transmitter, which had only chrome knobs, both the Mohawk and Warrior were available with either brushed aluminum or chrome knobs.  Around 1962, Heath generally went to the chrome plated knobs instead of the brushed aluminum knobs.  Since production of the GC-1 ended and production of the GC-1A started, in 1962, that coincides with the phasing out of the brushed aluminum knobs and phasing in of the chrome knobs.

Subject: [Heathkit] Mohican GC-1 or GC-1A

Heathkit Wizards,

I have three Mohicans here.  One has the shiny chrome looking knobs and the
other two have brushed aluminum appearing knobs.

I have been considering is one a GC-1 and the other a GC-1A?

What is the difference between the two?

I have looked each over and see no obvious difference.

I have an original GC-1A manual but have not located a manual for the GC-1
at this time.
