[Heathkit] HW-101 unbuilt kit

Bill,
How much would you pay for the pleasure of building a kit? How much would
you pay for your vacation? The answers varies with circumstances. I've
passed up opportunities for items because I felt that they were too
expensive at the time and then bought that same item later on for a similar
price. The whole point of my comment was that the $1600 price paid is
within a reasonable range, IMO, for a nice complete unbuilt Heathkit HW-101
transceiver. Assuming part values are checked/replaced (caps/resistors) as
necessary during the build you would have a brand new radio. The HW-101 can
still provide a lot of hamming enjoyment including the forever satisfaction
of having assembled it yourself. Looking at your bio on QRZ I know that you
understand.
