[Heathkit] "little" Apache problem!!

Sounds like you have excellent shielding.

I ran the Apache/Mohawk for a number of years using a Dow-Key electronic T/R 
switch for the antenna. I got the T/R switch because it cost $12.95 and the 
relay was some $14.95. I was always careful that the receiver was muted when 
I transmitted... until one time I had the Mohawk's switch set to receive. 
With the AVC or AGC (whatever they called it) switch turned off on the 
Mohawk, I had PERFECT QSK which suited me greatly because I only worked CW. 
I could hear my own signal about the same as a 579 signal off the air and 
from time to time could hear my own signal coming back to me on 80 meters 
with a delay of about one-fifth second. That was a really great station.
