[Heathkit] question about the 303

                             Just picked up a 303, DOA,  cleaned all the switch's and pots and now she's back to life. No doubt need a alignment and all the board connectors cleaned also. Noticed one thing, on the agc . When in the off position, the s meter of course does not move any longer but the audio level dose not change at all . The agc circuit the 300 uses, effective? or is this normal operation?  I realize Iam way to early into this 303 to be wording about agc ,but thought I would ask.
