Sandy,
The data sheet that came with the microphone I bought with that description
a while back calls it a Model HDP-242. The only difference in my microphone
is that the "screen" over the mic element extends out of the element housing
and is chocolate brown, not black. It appears to be an Astatic microphone
to me, as the base is identical to the Drake 7077 microphone which has
Astatic Company in relief in the bottom casting. I suspect that if we pried
off the wiring label on the bottom we would see the Astatic Company listed
in the casting on my Heath mic as well.
The screen on the Drake microphone is black, and does NOT extend much past
the end of the element housing. Otherwise they look very similar the Drake
and Heath mics, except the colors. The data sheet says Heath- Zenith but no
dates. The Heath-Zenith name may or may not help indicate what rig it was
designed to work with, but I have no other information to offer.
73,
Don, WB5HAK.
