[Heathkit] Heath Company Shutdown

Hi All :
It seems that the Heath Company has ceased operation of it's educational dept after layoffs in march and in April this year.  They had stated that they were planning to start manufacturing some new kits for the masrketplace but that failed to materialize. Everything about the shutdown has been kept hush hush. The ARRL has tried to contact them with no success. 
Does anyone else have any info on what happened with the company or otherwise ?
