Bruce,
You can probably get suitable bushings off of other, defunct Heathkits, or even other brand radios. Many were fairly common parts of that era. The knobs might be another story.

Subject: [Heathkit] SB220 question
Hello list,
I refurbished a nice basket case SB220 last year, working good on the air......
Question:
The variable caps have gotten a bit hard to turn and they have essentially almost ruined the two large knobs. The metal inserts are getting loose/wobbly inside the plastic shells of the knobs, thus making adjustments a bit tough on 10 M (10 M is alive finally!)
The set screws are tight, but the inserts are going to give up sooner or later......the knob hubs are also splitting from the torque over the years. When it was in the resto stage, I tried to clean and lube the bushings of the variable caps, but obviously not good enough. I will need to replace/repair the knobs and fix the tight bushings. Suggestions?
Thanks Bruce
