Perhaps; the SB-401 was different from the SB-400 because they added a switch (ganged with
another control) that allowed one VFO control the transmitter and the receiver as in a transceiver.
The changes between the SB-301 and the SB-300 may have been to facilitate that connection.
I have a SB-401 and SB-300 (with a bandswitch problem) and I would like to know.
