Morris,
I do think you are wrong this time.  Impedance is measured the way you 
describe, but capacitance of any cable, not just coax, is expressed in pf 
per foot (which may be in relation to center from shield, I don't know about 
that).  So, in essence, Dick was correct that the capacitance of a length of 
cable would be in series with the capactor he chose inside the rig.  But 
then again, I VERY EASILY could be wrong as well, hi.  Isn't that why we are 
"amateurs"??
