That looks like some highlymodified TX on the floor. I wonder what that is!
My "elmer" at age 14, 15 or so had a ham band receiver similar to the HR-10B
but I think it was called an RA-1 and it included 160m. That was the only band he ever
used it on - had a small 10 watt AM xmtr, and the antenna was a half wave end-fed
L shaped wire fed by a transformer wound on a large diameter former. As I remember it was
about the size of a porridge oats cannister.
They had a great AM roundtable around Cambridgeshire in East Anglia that was very active,
both during the days and evenings, and especially on Saturday mornings with a large number
of check-ins.
