Good afternoon, Carl.
I don't understand that. I just tried a test on my TS-950 and TL-922
and when driving the linear to 400 watts output measured on two
different wattmeters (they match within less than 20 watts), HV
measured 2950 VDC and IP measured 240 ma, for a power input of 708
watts. That calculates out to about 56.5% efficiency with a dead
unmodulated carrier.

That's what I was afraid of and it's certainly true of things like
the AL-811H and the 30L-1. I was hoping that the Warrior, being less
size-limited, might have had better margins designed into the power supply.
I wouldn't mind doing a serious rebuild of the power supply if that's
what it takes... solid state rectifiers, big caps, get rid of the
choke, maybe even a different power transformer, see if I can boost
HV up to 2500 or so... course, then logical question is, why not just
buy what I want?... answer is I like the way the Warrior matches up
with the Marauder in styling, I have no need or desire to keep it
"correct", so I don't mind rebuilding it if I can buy it cheaply
enough, in fact one option would be if I can find one with a blown
choke or power transformer.
