Hello All,

I bought a HW-5400 and HW-5400-1 set some time ago. The power supply
didn't work right. Apparently someone had cut the original HK
connector of the leads that pass audio from the rig to the speaker and
the power switch. It was replaced with a piece of Cat V and a
connector that didn't exactly fit the rig. I had another 5400-1 power
supply to use with my rig. This one is now a spare. Since the Cat V
has broken at the solder joints in the power supply, I'd like to
remove it and put a simple power switch using the hole already in the
chassis so that I can use the power supply on any rig I have. I'm not
sure where most of the leads go. I had no problem with the speaker.
And, I'm fine that the speaker wouldn't work in the unit as I am
wanting to do this. I do want to leave it so that it could easily be
reversed if someone ever wanted to restore the power supply back to
factory specifications (that's why I want to re-use the hole in the
chassis). I don't have a schematic for this power supply either. So,
could someone explain which wire lead does what? I have 3 I'm not
sure of. One is a red lead that goes to a diode on the board mounted
vertically up next to the top right side of the board. I have a green
lead that goes to the board mounted on the bottom of the chassis. It
appears to attach on the top left of the board if the chassis is
rotated so that you are looking at the front of the power supply.
Lastly, I have a purple lead that is attached at the bottom left of
the board mounted on the bottom of the chassis. Again that is based
on looking that the front of the power supply.

I hope that you can follow what I am talking about. If not, drop me
an email off the list and I'll get a better description/pictures to
look at.

Thank you and 73,
Eric
