[Heathkit] Apache question...

Hi Al,

I didn't see any replies on the Heathkit list and I'm not on that puck
thing. I dunno if you got any helpful replies in private or over on that
other list.

Even if you have to open the hole up a little to fit the new strain
relief and cord you should update/upgrade that wiring. I would have to
look at my schematic and at my Apache to be sure but I believe mine has
the hot side fused and through the power switch with the neutral
straight through. Of course the safety ground wire goes to the chassis.
The primaries of the transformers are not grounded and you can use
either side for the hot wire or the neutral wire. Eeny, meeny, miny,
moe...

I still have the double fused plug on my Johnson Ranger but I intend to
change that one over, too. My DX-100 has it too but I am afraid to even
plug that one in at this point. It's in the queue for overhaul.
