Hi, Bill!
Hope you and your family had a VERY Merry Christmas!
Well, I went to my friendly neighbourhood quack (aka my Chiropractor) and
asked him where he got his great back brace he uses. "In that closet over
there" said he. So, I left his office with what looks like the mother of all
back braces. Sure beats the ones they wear at Home Depot.
Well, I'd put my Apache onto my steel hand cart when it arrived last week (I
was NOT going to carry it from the driveway to the basement; I may be a
fool, but I'm not an idiot...). So, it was eight inches off the floor to
start. Undid the panel screws and slid it out of the cabinet, still on the
steel cart. Put the cabinet on the bench and put the new feet on it, slid
that back.
Then, I put that brace on as tight as I could; felt like I was saluting some
CO my back was so straight! Then, got my hands under the chassis and bingo,
up she went. 75 pounds sure beats 95.
Mind you, back in the early 90s when I was in my mid-40s, I thought nothing
of grabbing my old 32V-3 by the hand grips and bench-pressing it.
Turning 65 this September sure has made me muscle-humble...

Just realized something...
The last Apache I "bench-pressed" was in 1998, 15 years ago. Hmmm...
Methinks that sliding it out of the cabinet on the floor where it's sitting
will trim 15-20 pounds off the weight.
I never thought I'd be thinking twice about hefting this critter onto the
bench, but I turned 65 this year!
Merry Christmas to one and all!

Heh,
I'm 65 too and sliding it out of the cabinet doesn't do anything at all
except make TWO heavy objects to lift. Mine is down near the floor pending a
sale or trade that didn't happen. The shipping costs are horrible. I won't
be putting the Apache down near the floor any more and the DX-100 shall
remain at desktop level and forevermore both shall just slide from surface
to surface on tables, carts, and workbenches. When they are not on the air.
The Apache works fine RIGHT NOW. The DX-100 is up for heavy duty TLC. I have
reinforced the operating position to take the weight!
