I have an SB-101 with a similar problem; the "fiducial window" along with the zero set knob and shaft are missing. These parts do not seem to be available, and the assembly manual does not reveal much about the parts configuration. I've considered installing a fixed window as Dick has suggested, and to forgo zero-setability.
