Actually I'm the one who is receiving it, and while I'm not sure my
XYL will agree, I'm fairly confident I'll remember to pull it apart
and inspect it and remove packing material, etc. before turning it on :-).

Ameritron has a neat trick to avoid that... they ship the AL-811H
with everything installed but packing material around the tubes, then
they take the fuseholders and fuses and tape them to the top of the
power transformer, and put a big sign on the top of the amp alerting
the owner that he has to remove the top cover to get at the fuses and
fuse holders... then hopefully he will notice that gee, there seems
to be a bunch of foreign matter all around my tubes... :-)

The seller of the amp has decided not to remove anything but to add
packing material and bracing material to the tubes and transformer
per my request... nothing much I can do about that except hope it
gets here in one piece, or walk away from the deal.
