[Heathkit] DX-100B questions / problems

The "improved keying" and spotting switch did not come on the DX-100B. It had to be added to both the DX-100 and DX-100B. Heath had an "official" modification kit for doing this. The improved keying modification makes the VFO to run continuously when the plate switch is in the "on" position. This was objected by many because the receiver is "blocked".

Subject: Re: [Heathkit] DX-100B questions / problems
The differences are:
1. Different cabinet.
2. Different loading capacitor system.
3. Holes already drilled for SB-10 kit.
4. Only one crystal slot in the B rather then a switch for 4 in the
DX-100. Thus the B only has a switch to go between crystal and VFO and the
DX-100 had the VFO switch as well as a crystal selector switch.
5. The B has a nickel plate chassis rather then copper plated as in the
DX-100
6. Improved keying and spot switch.
7. The un terminated wire is the neutralization wire for the 6146 finals.
(Its moved about until the tubes are neutralized)
As why you don't have any output, that could be caused by a very large
number of things. In most cases a DX-100 manual would work to trouble shoot
your problem. Contact me off line and I will give you a bit more helpful
information
