I go years between aligning my SB-301 and it seldom needs any "tweaking"!

Subject: [Heathkit] SB-301 Receiver
Hi Guys,
Just a quick question out of personal curiousity: how many of you owners of the SB-301 receiver out there find that a touch-up alignment is in order, more often than not...?
I take my receiver down off of the shelf every couple of months, or so, and have found that---even though the rig is NOT especially deaf---a minor tweaking of the ferrite slugs in the different coils most always yields me a new peak on the S-meter.
Is this normal, or am I paying the price of storing the radio in a (finished) basement...?
BTW, I absolutely LOVE the '301: for my money, it's probably THE best "bang for the buck" available in tube-type receivers to-day. It's only drawback is the fact that it doesn't cover 160-meters, IMHO...otherwise, a super-simple, super-effective listening post! (and it's light-weight, too...!).
