My SDRs out-perform every vacuum tube rig that
I have ever used, including the ones you have
mentioned.
Yet, I still have a Heathkit RX-1, HO-10, DX-60,
GC-1, and others. Why? Because I remember building
those kits. They are old friends that bring back
many memories.
The folks on this list still use Heathkits, not
necessarily because of superior performance,
but to reminisce over an extraordinary company
and to enjoy using equipment a half-century old.
