[Heathkit] HW2036A Xmit Audio Problem

Hi Folks,

Been working on a pair of 2036's, one has good xmt audio - the other does not. Of course the better looking of the 2 is the one with the bad audio.

Distorted reports I get over the air, but can not seem to pinpoint the trouble.

Swapped the VCO box (mod is in there)between the 2, replaced the Mike element, scoped out the mike amp circuit, swapped the IC,  - nothing looks bad there.
( no soldering problems or wrong resistors or leaky caps - voltages check ok)

Was thinking of swapping the xmtr board between the 2, not much else left to troubleshoot.

Ideas??
