Several things:
The "obvious" change is the cabinet.
Next, the DX-100B does not have the front panel 4 position crystal switch. Instead, there is a single crystal socket that is accessed by opening the door in the top and moving a slide switch.
The DX-100B came with the continuously variable antenna loading capacitor whereas the original DX-100 had a smaller variable capacitor and then fixed loading capacitors selected by a switch on the front panel. Now, there was a Heath modification kit to change the loading control to continuously variable. These transmitters were "unofficially" called DX-100A.
The rear chassis of the DX-100B is "punched" with 2 holes to install the SB-10 SSB adapter kit whereas with the DX-100 you had to drill these holes to install the kit to use the SB-10.
There are 3 minor capacitor changes in the driver circuit to improve the drive on 10-meters in the DX-100B.
Also, there are additional Heath modification kits available that will work with either the DX-100 or DX-100B.
