I agree with Tom... PuTTY is a great program that will do what you want 
and much more.  I have it on my computers here as an SSH client.  I just 
checked the User's Manual and there is a specific section on setting it 
up as a Terminal through an RS 232 port.  It also does SSH, TELNET, and 
FTP when properly configured.
